Established in the year 1964 by His Grace Thomas Mar Dionysius, St Stephen's College, Pathanapuram stands tall among higher education institutions in Kollam district. Named after the first martyr of Christianity, St Stephen, the college imbibes his messages of sacrifice and commitment and fulfills the long cherished dream of His Grace to uplift the benighted rural population of Pathanapuram. Affiliated to the University of Kerala and re-accredited by NAAC with B++ grade, the college offers eight undergraduate, five postgraduate and three Ph.D. programmes and shines with excellence in academic, arts and sports with the perfect balancing of scholastic and non-scholastic activities. With efficient faculty and premier infrastructure, the college provides a pleasant and dynamic learning environment to nurture a better future generation. With 60 years of excellence in the field of teaching and learning, the legacy of St. Stephen's still continues through its laudable alumni.
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1980 and is committed to teaching, research, and has been giving large contributions to St.Stephen's College in its growth in the sphere of higher education. The postgraduate course was started in the year 2013. The Department is sponsored by FIST-DST. Department of Mathematics has seven dedicated permanent faculty members, and one guest faculty. We regularly conduct seminars, workshops, and research oriented academic activities. The Department is supported by National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) Book distribution scheme. The research contributions of the department are mainly focused on the areas, graph Theory, Stochastic Process, Fluid Dynamics, Fuzzy Mathematics and Functional Analysis
The Department feels proud to conduct this international convention as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the college. The Department of Mathematics, established in the year 1980 has been instrumental in the achievements of the college in the past 60 years. The main theme of the International Conference on Advances in Pure and Applied Mathematics - 2025 revolves around exploring fundamental theoretical developments and their practical applications across various scientfic and technological domains. This conference aims to bridge theoretical advances with real - world implementations, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and innovative solutions. It provides a platform for researchers, educators, and practitioners to exchange insights, discuss emerging trends and address key challenges in both pure mathematical theory and its practical applications
